Dinner Candles
Tall tapers and slim pillars for the table, hand-poured in Johannesburg.
Dinner candles are tall, slim candles for the dining table, like taper candles and slim pillar candles. They give soft light down the table without blocking the view across it. Ours are hand-poured in small batches in Midrand, Johannesburg, and delivered across South Africa.
They are made from a natural blend of soy wax, beeswax and a touch of coconut wax, with a cotton wick. Never paraffin. Order them unscented, so they do not compete with the food, or pick one of our scents. Then choose your wax colour.

A holder for the Ribbed Taper.
Our hand-cast eco resin Splash Holder holds one slim Ribbed Taper. It does not fit the Grand Taper, which stands on its own base.
How to choose
Taper candles or slim pillars?
- Tall taper
- A tall taper gives height without crowding the table. The Grand Taper is a fluted taper, 20 or 25 cm tall, on its own starburst base, so it needs no holder.
- Slim taper
- The Ribbed Taper is 20 cm tall and about 2 cm wide. It needs a holder, and our hand-cast eco resin Splash Holder fits it.
- Slim pillar
- A slim pillar stands on its own and sits lower. The Bubble Stack is about 15 cm tall and the Slim Fluted Pillar about 10 cm. Set them down the middle of the table, or mix them with tapers for different heights.
- Unscented or scented
- Unscented is the usual choice at dinner, so the candle does not compete with the food. Every dinner candle comes unscented at the same price, or in one of our scents.
- At the table
- Keep candles clear of napkins and flowers, and blow them out before you leave the table.

- Should dinner candles be scented?
- Unscented is best for most dinners, so the candle does not compete with the food. All our dinner candles come unscented at the same price. If you would like a light scent, you can choose one of ours instead.
- Which taper candles need a holder?
- The slim Ribbed Taper does, since it is about 2 cm wide, and our hand-cast eco resin Splash Holder fits it. The Grand Taper stands on its own starburst base, so it needs no holder.
- Do you deliver dinner candles across South Africa?
- Yes. We hand-pour each candle to order in Midrand, Johannesburg. Candles are dispatched within 1-2 business days and couriered nationwide, which takes 1-2 business days in Gauteng and 3-5 elsewhere in South Africa. You can also collect for free in Midrand.
