Choose your candles.
You make about 5 candles on the day, in shapes you choose from our range below. Bigger shapes use more wax, so you make fewer of those. Not sure? Tell us what you like and we will help you choose. Extra candles are R 95 each.

Tell us your choices when you book, and no later than 7 days before. Your wax is weighed out the day before the class, so we cannot take changes on the morning. The shapes marked mould not sold are yours to make and take home, we just do not sell those moulds.

We make what we teach, every week
Everything in the shop is poured and cast by hand in Midrand. You learn on the same moulds, the same wax blend we use for our moulded candles, and the same eco resin we use for our homeware.
A real recipe, not a demonstration
You leave with our actual ratios written down: the soy to beeswax blend, the fragrance load, the resin powder to liquid. Nothing held back.
A private day, just your group
Only the people you bring are in the room, so every piece gets looked at and nothing is rushed. Come on your own or fill the table with friends.
How a day flows.
The order is set by the wax, not by us. A candle needs about two hours in the mould, so the biggest one is poured first and comes out last.

- First pourBlend your wax and pour the biggest candle first, so it has the longest to set.
- While it setsMix the eco resin, colour it, and cast your piece while the candle rests.
- ThenPour the smaller pieces, and learn how wick size changes the way a candle burns.
- Towards the endTurn out your cast piece, sand the edges, and talk through drying and sealing at home.
- To finishEverything out of the moulds, wrapped, and yours to take home.
Booking a day.
A day with us is private and by arrangement, weekends included, for one day or two. Tell us your group and roughly when suits you, and we will set a date that works. Online classes are set the same way, and the e-book is yours the moment you order, no date needed.

- Online classes and the e-book are paid in full when you book.
- A day with us has a minimum booking of R 3 200, so it is worth the day even if it is just one or two of you.
- For a day with us, a 50% deposit holds your date, and the balance is due 48 hours before.
- Pay by card or instant EFT through PayFast, or by bank transfer. We send the details once your date is set.
- Move your day to another date, free, up to 7 days before.
- Inside 7 days the deposit is not refundable, because your materials are already bought and portioned. You can always send someone in your place.
- Minimum age 12. Closed shoes, please, and wear something you would not mind marking.
A day, made to suit you.
Every day with us is private. Come on your own, bring one friend, or fill the studio with your group, with a minimum booking of R 3 200 so it is worth the day either way. We set the date with you, and you can add:
- Make about 5 candles in shapes you like, and we help you choose. Extra candles are R 95 each.
- Rather we came to you? Add a R 450 call-out within 40km of Midrand, then R 6 a kilometre each way beyond that.
- After a shape we do not stock? We will order the mould in for you and you keep it, from R 210.
Questions.
What is the difference between the day, the online classes and the e-book?
The day is hands-on and private at our atelier: you make real pieces and take them home. Online classes are taught live by us over video while you make at home, on a date we set together, with the e-book included. The e-book is the recipes written down, on their own, sent to you by email.
Can I come on a weekend, or for more than one day?
Yes. A day with us can be any day of the week, Saturdays and Sundays included. For more time, book two days: a full day of about eight hours, then a half day of about four hours, for example Saturday and Sunday morning.
Do I need any experience?
None at all. Most people who come to a day with us have never made a candle before. We start at the beginning.
Do I take my pieces home on the day?
Yes. Candles are poured at the start of the day so they have time to set, and we take them out of the moulds at the end. Eco resin pieces are ready to take out of the mould in under an hour and come home with you the same day. Let them dry for a week or two before you seal them.
Is the day private?
Yes. A day with us is by arrangement and just for your group, whether that is you on your own or a table of friends. We set the date with you once you get in touch.
What should I wear?
Something you would not mind marking, and closed shoes. We work with hot wax and wet resin. Aprons and gloves are provided.
Can we bring wine?
On a private day, yes, and most groups do. We serve tea, coffee and something to eat as well.
Where is the day held?
At the atelier in Midrand, Johannesburg. We send the exact address and parking directions once your day is booked. We can also come to you for a call-out fee.
What if I need to cancel?
Move to another date free of charge up to 7 days before. Inside 7 days the deposit is not refundable, because your materials are already bought, but you are welcome to send someone in your place.
Can I buy the moulds you use?
Yes. We sell moulds and starter kits so you can carry on at home. Ask on the day, or send us a note and we will tell you what is in stock.

We sell the moulds and starter kits so you can carry on at home. A candle starter kit has three moulds, wax, wicks, a fragrance and dye. A homeware kit has two moulds, eco resin, binder and pigment. Ask on the day, or send us a note and we will tell you what is in stock.
