How much do wedding favours cost in South Africa?

Wedding favours are small thank-you gifts for your guests. In South Africa, couples give anything from sweets to small candles. This is a simple way to work out what your favours will cost, and how many to order.

Work out the cost per guest

The cost of one favour is the price of the piece, plus anything you add to it, like a label or packaging. Then multiply by the number of favours you need.

For a candle favour from us, it looks like this:

  • The candle. A small candle suits a favour, like the Scallop Shell, the Waffle Heart or the Swirl Sphere. Each page shows the live price for each size.
  • A name label. A small printed label with your names, a date or a short thank you costs R10 per candle. It holds up to 25 characters, spaces included.
  • Packaging. For a bigger order, we can pack each favour in a clear gift box with twine and a label. We price this on your quote.

So the cost per guest is the candle price, plus R10 if you add a label. Multiply that by your number of favours, and you have your budget. For today's lowest price per guest, label included, see the top of our wedding favours page. It is worked out from our live shop prices.

How many favours to order

  • Many couples give one favour per guest. Some give one per couple or per family, which costs less.
  • Order a few extra for guests you add late, and for the bridal table.
  • Check your final guest list before you place a big order.

Are candles good wedding favours?

Yes. A candle is a favour guests use at home, so it is less likely to be left behind on the table. Ours are small enough to carry, and with your names on the label they remind guests of your day.

Our moulded candles are made from a natural blend of soy wax, beeswax and a touch of coconut wax, with a cotton wick. Candles poured into our vessels are pure soy wax, with a cotton or wooden wick. We never use paraffin.

When to order

Every candle is made by hand to order. Candles with a personalised label leave our studio within 3 to 5 business days, and then the courier takes a few days more. For 20 or more pieces, ask us for a quote first. Our standard colours take about 1 to 3 weeks to make, and custom colours at least 6 weeks. If your wedding is in December, order early.

How to order

For a small number, open a candle, add your label on its page and check out. There is no minimum, so one candle is fine. For 20 or more, send us a bulk enquiry with your date and number of guests, or message us on WhatsApp.
